Anne Watare Gitonga


Ms Anne Watare Gitonga is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, having been admitted to the bar in February 2008. Anne has extensive experience in democratic governance ranging from engagement at the national, regional, continental, to the global level with a focus on policy and legislative development, legal compliance, constitutional law, devolution, and human rights. Anne has managed donor projects with development partners including the Department for International Development (DFID), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Global Fund, and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), among others.

Anne’s experience is backed by a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and a Master’s degree in Law (LLM), both from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. In addition, she holds certificates in Comparative Constitution Building in Africa from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and Human Rights from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. In addition, Anne has received training in Policy and Legislative Drafting, Financial Management for Non-Governmental Organisations and Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is a beneficiary of the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) hosted by the United States Department of State. Anne brings to the organisation excellent leadership, networking and legal skills.
