George Duncan Odhiambo, PhD, MSc, BSc

Prof. George Duncan Odhiambo is the Director of Programs at the Poverty and Health Integrated Solutions (PHIS), and has been Associate Professor and Dean, School of Agriculture and Food Security, Maseno University, Kenya. He holds a PhD in Agronomy (University of Reading, UK), MSc Degree in Soil Science (University of Missouri, USA) and BSc Degree in Agriculture (University of Nairobi, Kenya), in addition to a number of courses on health systems and strategic management.

Prof Odhiambo has held various positions including Chairman of the Department of Applied Plant Science (Maseno University, Kenya), Ag. Centre Director, National Sugar Research Centre, Centre Director, National Fibre Research Centre and Senior Research Officer at the KALRO, among others. He has over 30 years of managing large collaborative grants from various donors including USAID, BMZ/GTZ, BMGF, IITA, CIMMYT, NRF, KILIMO TRUST, AATF and DFID. He has also led/been a member of several national and international taskforces, led program-based consultancies, trained undergraduate, postgraduate and various stakeholders on a range of topics including cropping system management, value chain development, agriculture-nutrition-health interfacing and research and development ethics.

At PHIS he is responsible for development and management of all programs in addition to providing technical and operational oversight to the programs. Prof Odhiambo brings to the organization many years of programing and management experience.
